Artist Statement

I love work that seizes me by the heart and makes me pay attention yet work that slips in slowly and surprisingly resonates equally.

In my own art practice I am concerned more with the underlying cadence than mere artifice - I consciously let go of the formed image and allow the marks or imagination to take over.  Look beneath the surface.

My work with artists books enables me to develop an intimacy with the viewer  and quite often my books are left unbound so that the reader may rearrange the images to tell a different story. I love this playful interaction.  My larger works very often keep the viewer at a distance, hide their meaning or offer little hint as to their intent - encouraging a deeper exploration.
