There is absolutely no excuse for me not having started my drawings today ....
I had unrolled this totally delicious BFK Rives 300 gsm paper yesterday and pinned two large sheets of it up on my newly cleared and prepared wall, all ready for drawing today. It didn't happen - not a mark! And only myself to blame.
Fifty prints later, after a very industrious day, the paper remains untouched. At least my avoidance led me to printmaking - 50 prints closer to the 100 required for the Maleny Printmakers Exhibition.
Tomorrow maybe I won't be too apprehensive to start making marks on this pristine, intimidating, gorgeous paper.....
What a delicious roll of paper! It's making me hanker for my watercolour days. Intrigued by all your prints, especially the combination of rust and indigo. I would love to see a close up in future posts.
ReplyDeleteWe can feel so humble and clumsy when faced with such gorgeous materials, can't we? They look so perfect in themselves, a completed work of art. Adding a single dot could mean destruction. Sometimes though that single dot contains the power of creation.
ReplyDeleteNo drawing - but satisfying prints - For me, it might be the other way round (on a good drawing day).
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a very productive day Susan, even if it wasn't drawing. I always love the blank piece of beautiful paper that is the beginning of a new project.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are able to put your pencil/pen to paper today....or perhaps tomorrow, as when the flow begins it usually becomes easier, or at least that is what I usually find. I have been so busy procrastinating lately, that not much creative has been happening. Your prints are very beautiful. I love the colours, and hope you will show us some closer and individual images.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you were very productive nonetheless! Still, I hope the drawing is beginning to happen as you can let go of some of the print demands...
ReplyDeleteS - After such a huge day of printing I would just want to sit back - visual feast. And i can imagine that faced with such a delicious roll of paper (or in my case metal) I would take time to creep up on it. Go well. B
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean by avoidance in your studio... I have done the same in my studio... that blank paper or canvas or whatever can be a little intimidating... but eventually you will tackle it... when the time feels right... I am still reeling from the fact that you have to have 100 prints completed.. now that is a huge accomplishment.
