second alphabet - tick .....

I love that I can tick this project off my list.  I really enjoyed making both the alphabet and the box for this alphabet.  This is the first time I have tried making this wrap over box and I am quite pleased with the result.  Certainly will use the idea again for other projects and hopefully their making will improve with each new effort.    I like the elegant lines this box/binding affords .... clean, simple.

I actually think I preferred this cover before I wrote the alphabet all over it - but it is done now.  Loved the clean simple lines it had before I overworked it!  It is so easy just to take things one step too far.

I am leaving Steve at home alone for a week and  am off to Sydney to have some fun with my children and poke around some paper shops. Will be back on line next Friday no doubt.  Take care till then - hope the storm clean up is not proving too much for those of my blogging friends who were in Sandy's path.

  1. Your skill at making the box cover is just so perfect.
I'm with you over the first part of the cover just left simple but its not always easy to let things just stay simple.
I continue to make slow progress and hope to do a little creative work today - slowly, slowly.
Have a wonderful time in Sydney - I'll think of you finding paper treasures - lucky you.

    1. Thank you Diane - not quite so perfect up close but I am certainly happy enough with this box form to use it again, and again!

  2. Sorry I've been silent on your blog and not let you know how delicious your alphabet is. It's just that I've fallen into that cycle of visit, look, remember to breath because the beauty of the work takes my breath away, look some more, try to write an intelligent comment, realize it's impossible, leave, come back, look, repeat...repeat...

The simple box cover has a quiet power...a majesty...that glows. The end result is playful and teasing with the letters spilling out and dancing along the edges. I like it both ways.

Have a wonderful time in Sydney with your children.
